How to tell a good story?

  1. Don’t make it too long
  2. Notice of the BONES of the story.
  • Dig really deep
  • Keep the subject always be the protagonist
  • Audiences’ emotions should constantly change throughout the whole story
    • Contentment/ Balance (can’t always be balanced otherwise it will bore the audience)
    • Humor
    • Heroism
    • Disgust
    • Outrage
    • Fear
    • Wonder
    • Sympathy

How to get to know your character well?

  • Outside characteristics & Inside characteristics
  • Set a archetype in advance
    • Devil
      • “You will…”
      • Demanding
    • Queen/King
      • “I command…”
    • Crone
      • hunch back
      • “Mine!”
    • Hero
      • “I will!”
      • Superman pose
    • Maiden
      • eyes down
      • “I have a secret”
    • Child
      • “Okay!”
  • Ask yourself several questions about them
    • Where do they feel safe/unsafe?
    • Which archetypes do they like spending time with?
    • Where will they do when they are threatened?
  • Not only focusing on the main character, but also see the world through other’s point of views
