Lifedrawing1: rhythm and shape

After 4 weeks of lifedrawing practice, here are some records of my comprehension into lifedrawing, combined with Vanessa’s lessons.

  • Try to capture the flow of the whole gesture (can just be initial shapes), instead of go around with some specific details.
I tried some 10s sketching to force myself to focus on the entire gesture.
These are some sketching I drew at first. I paid too much attention on the poses’ accuracy, that’s why I was not capable to finish a whole-body drawing in 30 seconds.
  • Copy is meaningless
    • Don’t simply copy, but try to make the sketch more vivid/extreme (otherwise the sketch might look stiff and mundain).
The poses look stiff
  • Use the “Bean theory
    • People have volume, so don’t simply draw the edge lines.
I was only pay attention on the edges.
  • Try to feel the flow of bodies.
    • for me, I tend to achieve rhythm using repeated curve lines base on my observation and instant response to a feeling of the pose.
  • Be relaxed while drawing
  • Try to find my own style
